"A lullaby to murder by" is how Josh Lee describes Claudio Monteverdi's "Oblivion Soave," one of the most haunting arias in all of Baroque opera. "This simple song conjures a lush, albeit dark, peace" says Lee who arranged, performed, recorded, produced and mixed the work while in isolation in LA. Taken from "The Coronation of Poppea," this lullaby provides a backdrop for political murders offstage, clearing the path for the mad emperor Nero to wed his lover, the corrupt Poppea.
