The song begins with an eerie guitar melody and EU1OGY’s signature growl, sounding as though it is echoing out of a distant void. The song grows in intensity when it hits the chorus—the vocal smashes into the foreground, and punishing programmed drums take over, battering the listener’s eardrums. According to EU1OGY, “SNAKES” is about “scumbags, bottom feeders, the lowest of the low. It’s about the unpleasant experiences that I have had with shitty people... and how it’s hard for me to wrap my head around a lot of those situations that I’ve been in with so-called ‘friends.’ It’s about the reality that good doesn’t always beat evil.”
